Skip Bin Waste Recycling

We sort, separate, and recycle the waste that comes back in our skip bins. Concrete, steel, timber, brick, and mixed loads from across South-West Sydney move through licensed recovery facilities before anything heads to landfill. If your bin is loaded with a single clean recyclable material, you also pay less.

How Workhorse Recycles Your Skip Bin Waste

Every bin we collect heads to an EPA licensed facility. Loads get weighed, tipped, and sorted by material. Heavy, clean materials like concrete and steel are processed for reuse in road base, civil works, and metal manufacturing. Timber is mulched or repurposed. Bricks and masonry are crushed for fill. Anything that genuinely can’t be recovered is the only material that ends up at landfill.

Our drivers know what’s in each bin before they tip it. When you book, we ask what’s going in. Clean concrete only, scrap metal only, or mixed renovation waste each move through different streams. That sorting starts at your driveway or work site, not at the tip.

Materials We Recycle

Concrete and Masonry

Slabs, footings, footpaths, retaining walls, bricks, pavers, and tiles. Crushed and reused as road base or fill. Clean concrete loads qualify for our dedicated concrete disposal rate.

Metal

Steel offcuts, rebar, mesh, aluminium, copper, iron sheeting, and old appliances. Sent to metal recyclers who process it for reuse. See the metal waste disposal page for accepted and excluded items.

Timber

Framing, formwork, pallets, fencing, and clean off-cuts. Mulched or repurposed depending on condition. Treated timber is handled through a separate stream.

Soil and Fill

Clean fill from excavation, footings, or landscaping work. Reused in civil and construction projects across Sydney.

Mixed Construction and Renovation Waste

Plasterboard, tiles, insulation, packaging, and general demo material. Sorted at the recovery facility to pull out recyclable content before the rest is processed. Most of our construction waste removal loads run through this stream.

Discount for 100% Recyclable Loads

If your skip bin holds only one clean recyclable material, like concrete, steel, or untreated timber, you get a lower rate. Mixed loads cost more because they need sorting. Single-stream loads can go straight to a recycler.

This is why a lot of builders and concreters book separate bins: one for concrete, one for steel, one for general mixed waste. The combined cost is often lower than one big mixed bin, and the clean loads get the recycling rate.

EPA Compliance and Licensed Facilities

Every bin we pick up is dropped at an EPA licensed waste processing facility. Our trucks are tracked, our drivers carry their Whitecard for construction site work, and we hold $20 million in public liability insurance. The paperwork is clean if you need it for a builder’s compliance log or a commercial waste audit.

We don’t dump, we don’t shortcut, and we don’t move material to anywhere that isn’t licensed to receive it. We’ve been doing it this way since 1994.

Recycling for Trades and Builders

If you run jobs across multiple sites, splitting your waste streams adds up fast. Concrete bins for slab and footing work, metal bins for fit-outs and structural jobs, mixed bins for finishing trades. Trade skip bin hire accounts let you book different bin types across different sites under one invoice, with consistent rates and 30-day terms.

Recycling-friendly waste management is also worth a mention on tender documents and project reports. Most builders need a recycling rate for green star ratings or council compliance, and we can supply the dockets to back it up.

Recycling at Home

For home renovations and cleanouts, you don’t have to sort perfectly. A bit of separation goes a long way though. If you’re pulling out an old kitchen, putting tiles and concrete benchtops in one bin and the cabinets, plasterboard, and packaging in another saves you money and recovers more material.

Garden cleanouts, soil from a new garden bed, brick from an old wall, and metal from old fencing all qualify for cleaner recycling streams if you book them as separate loads.
